Subway likes what it sees from its new personalized marketing approach and is expanding the facilitating technology throughout Canada, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
The company announced today an international license expansion with Mobivity Holdings Corp., whose Recurrency platform was created to increase customer visits and spend through targeted communication. In the U.S., it does this through one-to-one mobile marketing messages using Google’s Rich Communications Services. RCS, expected by some to replace SMS, incorporates many of the same features (like video and audio messages) as popular messaging apps such as WhatsApp and iMessage, as well as targeted receipt advertising that places offers and promotions based on customers’ purchases.
In other words, Subway’s new messaging system hosts conversational features that were historically confined to apps. So far, it is resonating very strongly with U.S. Subway consumers.
