Mobile identity provider Danal has announced the launch of a new service, phoneverification.io, to enable apps and services to perform frictionless, instant, and secure user phone number verification without using SMS.
The service provides app agnostic verification, and uses an API call and information from the user’s wireless carrier to confirm his or her phone number. The process is seamless for the end user, according to the announcement, and takes only a few seconds. The company says it can maximize conversions while maintaining security.
The service can be applied to perform phone number verification for new accounts, implement password-less login, prevent account takeover through profile change, or as part of two-factor authentication.
