Hack listener Micaela got really annoyed when she realised the text message that came up on her phone earlier this week wasn’t from friends or family – it was from a political party.
“While I know to expect spam from different things like shopping orders, I’m curious as to how a political party in Australia got my details and if it was legal,” Micaela said.
A text message from the United Australia Party (UAP) and authorised by former Liberal MP-turned-UAP member, Craig Kelly, has been making the rounds.
ACMA has received more than 4000 complaints about the text message endorsed by Craig Kelly.
And it has ruffled quite a few feathers.
“I guess it’s more annoying because you expect this kind of stuff from a retailer but not a political party,” Micaela explained.
